Zoho Web to Lead forms allows you to capture information from potential leads directly from your website. However, once you have created your web to lead form and Zoho starts capturing your lead information, there is no way of telling where it came from.  Below are simple, easy to read instructions on how to create the hidden lead source for your site; so your incoming leads will populate with a lead source.

  1. After you build your form under web to lead forms in Zoho, select [Save & Next]

Hidden Lead Source in Zoho

  1. Here you will see that Zoho has generated the form code for you.  If you don’t care to add a hidden lead source field, you would take this code, place it on the page of your site that you want the form, and you would stop there.

  1. If you wish to be able to capture the lead source on your web to lead form, you must modify the HTML code and add a “hidden field” in order to capture the information regarding the source of the lead.

    1. Find the section in the Zoho generated code that looks like this:

<tr><td nowrap style=’font-family:sans-serif;font-size:12px;font-weight:bold’ align=’right’ width=’25%’>Lead Source&nbsp;&nbsp;:</td> <td width=’75%’><input type=’text’ maxlength=’120′ name=’Lead Source’ /> </td></tr>

                          delete it and replace it with this:

<input style=”display: none;” type=”text” maxlength=”20″ name=”Lead Source” value=”Lead Source Name Goes Here” />

In the example above, the name of the Lead Source would show up as “Lead Source Name Goes Here” in Zoho. You can change the value to what ever you want your lead source to be named. The example below shows the lead source name as “Chris Clemes Rods”.  The code would then change to <input style=”display: none;” type=”text” maxlength=”20″ name=”Lead Source” value=”Chris Clemes Rods” />

     4.   Be sure to test the form on a website to see if it is populating your leads (and showing a lead source.)

Some troubleshooting advice:

  1. Be sure that before you generate the code, you update the Domain Name field under “Form Properties” on the Web to Lead tab.  This domain name MUST match the URL where the form is hosted on your website. This must be done in order for the leads to populate with a lead source. Hidden Lead Source in Zoho

  2. When updating the Domain Name field, it helps to copy and paste it exactly from the page. If the URL is “https://…” and you enter “http://…” it will not work.
